This map shows lands managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) that are available for onshore oil and gas leasing. As of January 2025, more than 81% of all BLM-administered lands in the Western United States remain open to oil and gas leasing. Since the passage of the Big Beautiful Bill, the BLM must now lease any of these lands that oil and gas companies want to lease–regardless of any concerns from the public.
